Hanoi - Temple of Literature














Here are some shots of the Temple of Literature in Hanoi. Some parts of the temple had been recently restored, but much of it was hundreds of years old as well. The turtles with tablets on their back commemorated past doctoral candidates that passed the civil service exams.

Kanachanaburi train tour - Pathom Chedi










Our first stop on the Kanachanaburi train tour was Pathom Chedi - the tallest chedi in all the land. It was very old, and had been rebuilt a few times over the years. Neat to see, and what a quaint town it was housed in. And wow, did the street market around the train station have some good eats!

Sukhothai - Sukhothai Historical Park - Wat Si Chum



















A big buddha. A really big buddha.

It's sort of neat that we get to see it in open air, too - long ago it looks like there was a roof over the room containing the buddha, so I'd imagine it wasn't easy to see. The natural light makes the whole experience very friendly.
